I think what really terrifies me is that he's still so mentally present . He's not absently just existing as a vegetable, he's able to make conversation, even joking around and being quite charming. With late-stage dementia, the person will just be incoherent and confused, but Clive is a perfectly normal man who just isn't taking in any new information.

Those children of his seem like they just wanted nothing to do with him and shove the entire burden on Deborah. While they can still cry and whine but do nothing to help, maybe bring some chocolates to him? Just check his health? I know theres nothing they can do to help but i would still show my love and show im there even if he doesnt. Thank god for Deborah, shes a literal angel and even Clive knows that somewhere in his heart. Wait till they go to heaven and hes made whole again and sees Deborah, knowing everything she did for him while they were alive and when he lost his memory...

That woman is his wife, and shes just trying to stimulate his brain because hes written in that diary for decades. She honestly probably knew what he was going to do next, And also it would be hard to know what to say next when you have to change topics every 7-30 seconds because he forgets and yeah she could just say what she said before because he forgot but that would make it even more boring for her not to mention sad. You can tell he has some breakthroughs like at the chapel and restaurant, those are probably the responses shes wanting to hear. Any resemblance of memory.

Not to be putting a religiously happy undertone on something so tragic and heartbreaking, but it's almost like god allowed him to live and only limited him to pure freewill as a test. A test he is passing. He is humanity in it's absolute rawest form for an adult. He can speak, eat, walk, listen, feel, smell, taste, love, hate. He can do everything. He can't remember it though. It's the ultimate universal beauty and irony. He is pure and because of this his suffering is pure. It makes me cry, but it also makes me smile. An inspiration because of loss, not gain. That's a rare gift.
