How do these people not realize that both Michael and the other guy have reasonable responses to being accused? Neither wants to get in trouble, one isn't combative, that's just his personality, the other is combative, that's HIS personality. How are they seriously this stupid? The signs of innocence and guilty-ness is literally just guidelines, everyone presents themselves differently.

Asking loaded questions, and lying is A-OK for the police. All part of their game, and they don't play fair... they play to WIN. This is why every lawyer will tell you: Shut your pie hole. Don't talk to the police, even if you _are_ innocent. They are _never_ to be trusted, once you are in custody, because if they have you, the _only_ thing they want is to _keep_ you. They do not care, at that point, if you are innocent or guilty. They are salespeople of jail time, and they only want to close that deal. _"Coffee is for closers."_

They did OK for a while, until they got caught.
The interrogating officer can hope to get out of prison within 5 years, if he behaves himself. Everyone was a little shocked when he confessed to the crime, not least of all the officer himself, but he could hardly deny what compelling and irrefutable evidence a 'voluntary' confession can prove to be.

1st Gods bless that independent investigator. 2nd $46,000 is not enough to compensate for almost losing the best years of your life. 3rd the demotion was a step in the right direction but they ignored evidence because they wanted a gold star for brininging him in and getting a confession. The other detectives used lies and trickery and saying there's video camera footage when there wasn't. Those investigators did not look into his alibi and if it wasn't for the independent Investigator his alibi might have never been validated and he might be sitting in prison losing the best years of his life as an innocent man. Did you see how happy the suspect was when he was told there was video camera footage because then he knew his innocence would be revealed and the investigator simply backed up from his play not considering that maybe he truly was dealing with an innocent man. This man was composed and poised the entire time and I have so much respect for him and he should have gotten a lot more than $46000.
